Nick Huhn - Creative Versatilist: About

  • josh campbell · 10 months ago
Nick, I am a fellow creative versatilist. I have a question regarding salary negotiating from this position. I possess substantial skills in sales/marketing, IT, and business development. I also possess functional skills in graphics design, web design and management, and virtually all facets of business (skills acquired as an entrepreneur with 2 software related companies and having gone through the investigative start-up phase with other prospective ventures)

I am being offered a position with a small but growing medical device company with few employees. I will be employing all of the skills listed above and have no idea what a reasonable salary would be to negotiate for. Any insight you have on this would be so greatly appreciated.

it might be helpful to know that I have no degree and 3 years of experience. The title of the position as advertised is "project manager" as a temporary 9 month assignment. I am meeting with the owner of the company monday for the first time in my final interview to negotiate salary. I will be leveraging my skills against his needs to secure a regular full time assignment (hopefully, i can't see how not).

So that is where I will be starting negotiations from

Hey, Josh - thanks for reaching out. Truth be told, there are probably several factors to consider in your negotiations: experience, location / cost of living, previous salary, value of your benefits, value of options/equity in the growing company... Sorry to be vague about specific numbers, but I don't have much context to consider so like any good consultant would say, "it depends." :)
